Pastor Haywood Hannah is a native of Weir, Mississippi, in Choctaw County. He is the eldest son of the late Mrs. Ida Mae Hannah and Mr. Haywood Hannah, Jr. He was raised by his great-grandmother, the late Mrs. Rosie Miller.

Rev. Hannah was an honor student and a Hall of Fame graduate at Weir High School in 1973. He graduated from Holmes Junior College in 1975 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Music Education. He graduated Cum Laude from Jackson State University in 1992 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. In 1997, he earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University. In 2005, he completed coursework through the United Methodist Church at Millsaps College.

Pastor Hannah was called to the ministry in 1995. His first appointment was in the East Jackson District. He served three churches in Forest, Morton, and Raleigh (Scott and Smith Counties) in Mississippi in 1996. In 1998, he was appointed to the Greenwood District at the Galilee-Treadwell United Methodist Church in Lexington, Mississippi. He currently serves as pastor of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Carthage, MS. Pastor Hannah is an avid singer and loves music. He founded the Attala County Youth Mass Choir and released his first CD entitled “Walk” in 1994.

Pastor Hannah is currently employed with the Leake County School District as principal of Carthage Junior High School. He currently resides in Carthage, Mississippi, with his wife of 32 years, Mrs. Flora Harmon Hannah of Kosciusko, MS. He is also the father of two wonderful daughters Janelle and Janeen. Pastor Hannah has promoted and performed with The Mississippi Mass Choir and Dorothy Norwood. Pastor Hannah also performed for Oprah Winfrey’s homecoming in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
